well, i got a new monitor at work today. my request for an LCD panel finally got approved, and it came this afternoon. i was previously working on my third CRT, and this one was so old it had old microsoft icons burned into it. i'm finally modern!
last night's SYTYCD show was awesome. my friend C stopped by my place, and we drove down to HP pavilion (through some traffic, which miraculously disappeared at the 101/87 junction, go figure). i tried four times to back into a parking spot for an easier getaway, only to realize that all i needed to do was to pull in head first to a spot and drive forward one car length to the other side. *bonks himself in the head*
anyways, before the show, they were playing music videos of american idol artists (daughtry, jordin sparks, carrie underwood). then the show started. there were a lot of dances performed, some of them forgettable and fluffy. katee and joshua performed six dances together, and they each performed another two dances with other people. i love katee and joshua together. of course, the show ended with "no air." there was an encore dance, but we left to escape the traffic.
the two alternates were thayne and chelsea traille, which i thought was curious, but then i remembered that thayne was the last one cut before the top 10, and chelsea was his partner. overall, it was a great show, and i really enjoyed it. most of the solos were lame, though, but gev's was the best. i love breakers. gev got a lot of love from the girls (this girl behind me kept screaming "I LOVE YOU GEV!"), and the best ovation from his solo was definitely twitch. katee, whose hometown is san jose, had a huge section near the front dedicated to her. *sigh* i fucking love this show. i can't wait for next season so i can fall in love with it all over again.
on another front, work is not going to great for me. i have not made much progress in my current project, and i have three and a half weeks left to finish. by "finishing" i mean coding AND verification. so that's a tall order, and i need to get cranking. unfortunately, i need some help from my boss (who was the last person to code this block i'm working on), but he's swamped from other duties. so i don't know what to do. anyways, i'm deal with it next week, i guess. i am the king of procrastination, but i really want to fix that just this once and finish early so i can relax before my vacation.
so i wrote L a letter today. it's her birthday next tuesday, so i figured it would be a legitimate reason to write her. i had a smoke to clear up my head, and then i typed out a message on my computer and then transferred it to paper. basically, i just told her that i wish i knew her better, and that i wish fate had made things different for us, that's all. and of course, i said happy birthday. i doubt i'll get a response.
i set my alarm to go off at 9:30 every morning this week. i think it's taking a toll on me. i was massively tired today during lunch. in fact, i put my head down on the table several times. we went to dusita, and man, i love that place. i got the spicy crispy catfish luncheon special for $8.95. tasty shit, that is. it was packed, though. i have never seen dusita that full, and it's good to know that they have good business, because i don't want them to close up shop.
i can't believe USC lost last night! there goes my dreams of having a pac-10 team win the national championship. what is it with USC losing to oregon schools? didn't stanford beat oregon state? that's just wrong. oh well, now i won't feel that guilty if stanford beats USC, since they're out of the running.
man, this monitor is really sharp. i like it.
so jay and margaret finally named their baby. jaden. very interesting. it kind of deflates me, because i want to name my son "aidan." that rhymes. ugh. but still, jaden is a very unique name, and i think one of alan's friends has a son named jaden. is it a trendy name? i was hoping that they would go with the "m" theme because jay (whose real name starts with "m") and margaret both have names that start with that letter.
i really want to recharge this weekend. next week, i resolve to get cracking on my work and make some truly significant progress. i know i can do this. i know i can. and i need to.
last night, i had this extended dream about the question, "what is the maximum number of batters that a pitcher can face and still throw a no-hitter?" i saw this question on a southwest airline in-flight tv screen, and i got the answer right: 54. but then, it's not counting errors. or maybe the question was "shutout?" anyways, i woke up repeatedly arguing with myself what constituted an error and what not. anyways, it was really aggravating, because i could not get this question out of my head.
are ringback tones still sold? do people care about ringback tones? i thought it was a stupid idea. they only last for a few seconds anyway.
no, i do not have the hots for sarah palin. i think she's semi-attractive for an older woman (it's the glasses), but her ideas and the fact that she may become president of the US deathly petrifying.
ok, time to get out of here. sorry for shutting down my comments the other day. i have my reasons. if you ever want to tell me something, feel free to e-mail me. *hint*
