the $38 lunch

yup, i had an expensive lunch today. D said that he watched bobby flay's gumbo _throwdown_ episode , and he had never had gumbo before, so i took him and I to roux louisiana kitchen in santana row. it took us a while to find parking, so i was worried that we wouldn't be able to get a table, but lo! aside from the three of us, there were only two other tables occupied when we got there. i guess they don't get good lunch business.

i ordered a bushmills on the rocks ($8), fried okra ($8), and a pulled pork po' boy combo with cajun fries ($14.45). i was absolutely stuffed (and a bit buzzed from an empty stomach while waiting for my food) afterwards. unfortunately, the gumbo wasn't all that great; it lacked a spicy punch and was a bit bland. and the meal really hit my wallet hard.

neither I nor D had been to santana row before. i was sort of surprised since it's such a south bay landmark, but i guess it's understandable since they're both from berkeley. they were sort of impressed with all the fancy stores and stuff.

last night, i met up with adam and rae at los charros. i was starving since all i had to eat was a sausage & egg mcmuffin for breakfast. i chowed down on my super wet carnitas burrito. in fact, i ate it so fast that when i went home, i felt sick and barfed some of it up. ugh. gotta pace myself!

it's taking me a while to get used to the new facebook layout. they switched over permanently last night, and it crashed my browser (i use safari on my iMac at home). at first, i fucking hated it, but i'm sure i'll get accustomed to it over time. i just don't really like change, in a general sense. stasis is my friend!

i got a meeting schedule for 6-7pm today. ?! who schedules a meeting at that time on a FRIDAY night? so i asked the organizer if i really needed to go, because the subject matter didn't concern me at all. the guy told me that no, i didn't need to go, so i got out of it. hooray! and to celebrate even more, i scheduled a massage appointment at 6pm, so i'll be relaxing my ass off while these poor blokes are sitting in a meeting.

drat. i can't see alan and ting tonight. they're going to a 7:10 showing of _traitor_, but i get out of my massage at 6:30 and can't make it up to redwood city in time. they're headed to walnut creek this weekend for the moon festival with alan's family, so i guess i'll just have to catch them some other weekend.

so far, no definite plans for this weekend. there was a notion of a housewarming party by sammy and eric tomorrow, but i haven't heard of a confirmation yet. i don't know them very well, so maybe i'm not invited. i definitely want to watch the #5 ohio state/#1 USC game tomorrow; i heard that mediocre tickets to this game were going for $400. of course i'm rooting for the pac-10 team.

so one of my friends told me the other day that some women consider their men masturbating as a form of cheating. wtf? i think that's just ridiculous. i have actually *encouraged* my gf's to play with themselves on their own as a form a self-exploration and discovery. i think it's an important thing to do in a person's growing process. however, one of my ex's did think that porn was disgusting, and i strongly disagreed with that. i never really discussed the issue with her, but my guess was that she thought ogling other women having sex detracted from the relationship and put faithfulness to her in jeopardy. if that was the case, then i just think she was really insecure about herself. *shrug* what do you think?

another friend of mine asked if he could post an anonymous comment, for fear that i would "out" him because i might know his IP address. i actually do *not* know people's IP addresses, so i have no idea who you are if you don't put down your name. if that's what's stopping you from commenting, then don't worry about it. please, comment away! :)

ok. i gotta finish this up and head off to my massage now. i need to shut down my computer because we're having a planned power outage at the company tomorrow. need to log off all the servers and stuff. have a STUPENDOUS weekend folks!
