la times, part 1?

so christmas day (monday? time seems to blur when i'm on vacation), i woke up wondering whether anybody would be free do hang out with me. i wound up having indian buffet with paul and nelson at shiva, this relatively new indian restaurant on castro and california. the food was ok, but the selection wasn't that great. nelson said that the butter chicken was sweet, but at least the naan was fresh.

after that, i went home, took a little nap, and then adam dropped by my place to watch his beloved chargers take on the broncos on monday night football. we ordered a large domino's pizza, and adam ate 5 slices while i had the other 3. that dude can eat. the game was a good win for the chargers, who held denver to only 3 points. (i was rooting for a shutout.) after he left, i went upstairs and packed.

i woke up at 9:30 on tuesday, did my usual morning routine, IM'ed grace for a bit, and then left for the airport. man, long term parking was completely jam packed, and i wound up finding a spot at the very end of the lot. the lines were pretty sparse, but my flight turned out to be 99% full. weird. my dad picked me up, and the first thing we did when i picked up my luggage at baggage claim was share a smoke. ah, cigarette bonding.

i've been eating well here. all i've been having here is chinese food (beef noodle soup, beef and egg over rice, etc.). it's pretty good stuff, although today, i ordered eggplant with garlic sauce, and it was really bad. it's good hanging out with family, but then again, my mom and brother are all tied up with church conference stuff, and my dad is working most of the time. so i'm watching a lot of tv.

today, i called up an old taiko friend gina, and she picked me up, and we hung out for a few hours. we went to the cerritos library (cool building) to donate some of her books, and then we headed over to long beach to try pinkberry. ok, yeah, the frozen yogurt is good (and i got the "secret" unlisted mochi topping), but i don't get the hype. it's expensive, and it's not mind-blowing or anything. what's the deal with this place? why is it so popular? *shrug*

after pinkberry, we hit the cerritos mall. gina got some $80 moisturizer (it lasts for 4 months), and i picked up an $8.99 pair of penguin boxers at BR. cute! and then, i went home, had dinner with my dad and uncle's family, and watched the end of the motor city bowl, which was actually pretty exciting. (51-48 score)

damn, my dad can fall asleep in less than 2 minutes. i wish i could do that. he's snoring right now.

ok, that's it so far. it's nice to have some downtime, but to be honest, i'm getting a little bored. well, tomorrow i get to drink with alex, so that should be fun. :)
