darby no more

so the darby guy and i got in the same elevator (just the two of us) last friday. of course, he said, "hi darby," and this time, i got the guts to do it. i showed him my badge, pointed out the last two letters of my name, and he was puzzled. but then, i said emphatically, "DY," and then he got it. he laughed and apologized for saying my name wrong all these months. and today, when he saw me in walking down the hall, he greeted me correctly. :) yay for proactiveness!

i've been working hard this afternoon. i've been synthesizing like a maniac! i got 4.5 modules done. the hours flew by quickly, yet i was able to have my hourly cigarette breaks. it feels good to work productively.

i feel really bad about the whole michael vick situation. for those of you don't know, he pleaded guilty for financing and participating in a dogfighting ring. he was sentenced today for 23 months in a federal prison. why, michael, why? i mean, you're an awesome athlete, you're popular, likeable, rich and a total stud. why risk all that for a sick, sick pleasure? ugh. i have no idea if he's ever going to play football again. man, two years in prison. i'm just sorry the whole thing went down. personally, i hope he gets out of this a changed man, and i would definitely like to see him play quarterback again. i wonder if he can stay in shape while behind bars.

i messed up at work. pretty badly, actually. there was one task that i did halfway, but because i didn't complete it, i sort of fucked up the release. this release 2.0 that we made was supposed to have all the final SRAM's, but because i forgot to put in my change, the release has four extra SRAM's that it should. ugh. i blame myself entirely for this. now, i have to do some extra work to do this hack for the synthesis. *bonks his head*

i've been talking to my friend amy more these days. i like it. she's one of my oldest friends; we go back to when i was in early high school, i think. i wonder if i can entice her to move out here. she is the most socially networked person of all my good friends, it's amazing. i met one of her college acquaintances at the turkey deep-fry party this past thanksgiving, and according to him, everyone wanted to date her. it doesn't surprise me.

i get an alarming amount of spam from people selling replica watches. is there really such a demand for this stuff? i mean, online pharmacies, yes, i get it. penny stock pumper and dumpers, ok, yeah. penis enlargement pills? yup. but fake rolexes? hm. really?

last night, i got a text message from a stock pumper (i.e. "buy this stock, it's gonna rocket"). i was pretty pissed off about that. where the fuck did he get my number? does anybody know anything about this? who sells cell phone numbers to advertisers? i mean, i'm paying for each and every one of my text messages, so if this continues, i'm gonna get really upset. cell phone numbers are pretty much sacred (in terms of privacy) to me, so i don't think i'm being unreasonable.

today, i was smoking outside when my boss was finishing up his cigarette. i told him all the shit i was doing at work, and he told me that i was very valuable to the company. i should have told him, "then pay me more."

i want to get a blowjob from kobe tai. she looks like she knows what she's doing. for a girl, that is. of course, i have to admit that the best blowjob would probably be from a gay male. after all, a gay man owns a penis, so he would most likely know best what feels good and what doesn't. makes sense, no? i bet that's the case with chowing box as well.

ah, chowing box. i think i've forgotten what a vadge smells like. i actually like the smell (unlike people who say it's like tuna), unless it's during a girl's period. i remember the first time i saw a live one; i had no idea what the hell i was looking at. i was different from the magazines, because it had hair all over the place, unlike the shaved ones from the skin mags. it took me a couple more times until i was able to find the girl's clitoris, and it wasn't until a later relationship until i went down on the girl regularly. but after that, it became a staple of our sexual routine. (in fact, it became a requirement, which i came to resent.)

i'm looking forward to dinner tonight. i'm organizing a trip to pizza chicago. on mondays, they take 25% of the entire bill. i'm trying to get four person, though, so we can get two pizza's. i purposely didn't eat that much today for lunch (D and i went to cheap korean) so i could make room for deep-dish pizza.

ok, it's almost time to go home. monday is done!

tapered weekend

friday night, i met up with some people at TGIFriday for dinner. my entree (cajun shrimp and chicken pasta) was pretty bad. it was really oily, and it made me feel really nauseated and sick afterwards. i felt like puking, but i held it in. poor john. he and grace chose the place because it had tv's so he could watch the warriors game, but after they seated us, the tv in view couldn't pick up the station, so he missed it. the good news is that even though they were down double digits while we ate, they came back and beat the heat.

afterwards, we went to watch _beowulf_ in 3D. i had read it in high school, but i didn't remember it. all i knew was that it was about a hero killing beasts. the plot wasn't really exciting or anything, but i thought the 3D was pretty nifty. the best part where it was utilized was where a guy was pointing his spear, and the spear came out all the way into the audience. the movie was long, and when i got home, it was past midnight. i skype'd my parents for about 20 minutes and went to sleep.

saturday, mikeC's friend judy came over to borrow one of my happi coats from my taiko days. apparently, one of her friends is having a japanese-themed 30th birthday party, and anybody who doesn't come in appropriate attire has to drink. the happi coat looked ridiculously large on her, but her aversion to alcohol, judy borrowed it anyway. we grabbed some pho (i got a rice plate) at pho to chau on castro, and then she left.

then, my cell phone broke. a little plastic piece that held down the battery chipped off, so i went to the verizon store and checked out the LG VX-8700 due to mikeT's recommendation. it wasn't on display, and they had to go to the back and fish one out. it was definitely a sexy phone, and after playing with it for a while, i decided to purchase it. it got $100 off with a 2-year renewal, and i also get a $50 mail-in rebate. it's stainless steel or something! ah, i love silver objects.

i think my salesman had tourette's or something. he kept on jerking his neck, similar to me. i didn't ask him about it, but i thought it was kind of cool.

after i got the phone, i sat in my car for about 15 minutes playing with it, setting up my speed dials and stuff. it's pretty thin and sleek, and even though i'm still not used to all the controls and stuff, i'm liking it so far.

then, i went home and watched friday's episode of _the next great american band_ as well as the heisman trophy presentation. tim tebow!

for dinner, i went over to greg and cheryl's place, where greg cooked beets (i've never eaten beets before, i think) and some shrimp pasta. i had never had dinner with just them two before, and i felt a little like i was intruding on them. but still, i had a good conversation with them, and we talked a lot about their recent honeymoon trip to new zealand (they had just come back on friday).

sunday was boring. i woke up and watched the packers/raiders blowout, but my real interest was the ticker at the bottom showing the cowboys/lions score. the cowboys were down the entire time, but they came back to win it by 1 point on a touchdown with 18 seconds left! i had the ESPN gamecast on, and when they score that touchdown, i ran up and down my hallway screaming.

i left my house at 2:30 to go meet up with carol and tony at santana row. man, i haven't seen carol in years! we got coffee at peet's and sat outside and chatted for an hour or so. it was good catching up with them. i am sad that i used to be closer to carol. we used to chat every tuesday night after bowling on my drive back. it's interesting how friends come and go.

and that was sort of it for my weekend. i went home after that, and i didn't do much else afterwards. i had jack in the box for dinner after calling multiple people for food (they were all occupied), and the sunday night football game between the colts and ravens was really boring. i did talk to amy for half an hour, and that was all the social contact i had for the rest of the day.
