i'm typing this very cautiously, because we've had power outages (three times today already!) here at the office. they only last for like 10 seconds, but it's really annoying because i have to reboot the computer every time. yeah, it's a huge nuisance. some of the people who are running jobs have already requested UPS's for their personal computers. this is one of the few times where i wish i worked on a laptop.
i'm relieved. why do you ask? because i can still solve a rubik's cube! i haven't touched the cube on my desk for over a year, and lately, i've been eyeing it warily, fearful of messing it up because i wasn't sure if i could solve it. one of my OCD's is that if i see an unsolved rubik's cube, i feel very disturbed. and since i haven't played with one in a long time, i've sort of forgotten how to solve it. but finally, today, i grabbed the bull by its horns and did it. i messed up three times, but in the end, my muscle memory came through, and after like 20 minutes or so, i finally finished it. *huzzah*
i had a few meetings today, and for one of the new features that we're adding in our chip, i was worried that the change would be a complex one. so i suggested adding back a non-negligible amount of gates into our design to make things simpler on my part, and what do you know, it's being considered! i really hope this goes through, because i'm feeling lazy, and i don't want to put in the energy it's going to take to go the other route. yeah, i'm such a terrible engineer. i should really embrace challenges and tackle new issues with glee, but honestly, i'm just looking for the easy way out.
after lunch today, i was having my usual post-meal smoke, and i felt a funny feeling in my sphincter. so i went to the bathroom, and i had a liquid dump. it was all blood. bright red blood. i've had this before, and it's really quite alarming. why is this happening? where is all this blood coming from? it's just scary, to think that i'm bleeding this much from my GI tract. it's sort of like having a period.
i think i need to drink milk more regularly. i don't like being lactose intolerant. last night, i drank a glass of milk, and for the rest of the night, my stomach was gurgling and bubbling and stuff. i could hear rumbling! i was farting up a storm! there was this one time, between my freshman and sophomore year in college, where i didn't drink milk at all. when i went back to school, i became violently lactose intolerant, like one small carton of milk would send me to the shitter with explosive diarrhea. but i (painfully) built my tolerance back up. it took many trips to the bathroom, but eventually i was ok. i think it's time for me to do this again. i like milk, but it's just that i don't drink it enough.
so i've found a way to indulge in both _south park_ and _the real world_. (both of them are at 10pm on wednesdays). i'm going to watch SP at its regular timeslot, and TRW has a repeat thursday nights at 7pm. right now, there's a major catfight on TRW, as trisha and parisa are fighting over this aussie dude alex. (the show's in sydney this year.) last night's episode ended in a major cursefest between the two girls, and it was pretty tasty. the show's making alex look like this innocent guy caught between two girls, but i think he's just a major player. and people are taking sides, too. i want to see this house ripped apart! and cohutta (sp?) is just funny; he was talking to his sandwich!
it's raining today. yuck. when i'm walking in the rain, i hunch over so as not to get my glasses wet, and i really don't like the feeling of rain drops hitting the back of my neck. *blech* and i need to get new windshield wipers, too. i think the old ones melted or something (they're like 3-4 years old), so they make this horrible noise when they scrape across my windshield.
ah, friday again! gonna go home soon. have a great weekend folks! and let's hope for a good game when the cowboys and patriots meet on sunday afternoon.
