so i was woken up at 8am today to the sound of a chainsaw. yup, some gardeners were sawing off some branches of a tree in a neighbor's yard, and it really pissed me off. i finally had enough of it and got out of bed at 8:30. damn gardeners, phooey. i had my morning smoke, took my morning dump, checked e-mail, and watched sportscenter. poor new orleans saints, they just can't get off the ground.
i played basketball today for the first time in two weeks. i got pretty winded. the worst thing was, i helped take down the volleyball nets beforehand, and i sliced open my finger on a frayed steel cable. ouchie! luckily, one of the guys had a band-aid, so i was able to keep the wound from opening up while playing. we only had enough people for 4-on-4, and we lost both games i played. oh well.
so the television season has started, finally. i enjoyed last night's season opener of _how i met your mother_. mandy moore got big! i barely recognized her in the episode, with her big tattooed arms and all that hair. so would it boost your ego if you knew that your schlong was bigger than your ex's new boyfriend's? i think i'd feel better, yeah. for guys, there's definitely a link between ego and penis size. although, it'd be even more awesome if the girl said that you were better in bed.
man, i didn't even realize that summer has ended. it was a good summer that just went by, one of the best i've had. so many weddings, bachelor parties, get-togethers. as geoff would say, good times, man, good times. it's crazy, though, because i was at macy's the other weekend, and they're already selling christmas stuff! and it's only september! what about thanksgiving and halloween?
last friday was my coworker C's last day. he was the 3rd person to inherit my katie holmes poster. i got the poster back in 2000 when i was crazy about katie and the show, _dawson's creek_. when i left the company, i gave it to william, and when he left, he passed it on, and so forth. so now, D is the proud owner of the poster. ah, katie holmes. i rummaged through some of the code i wrote back then, and i even named some of the gates "katieholmes" and "joeypotter." !! ah, television crushes. i got into a huge fight with k2 once, when i bought an issue of _rolling stone_ because katie was on the cover. we didn't talk for like a week because of that fight. what do you think? did i take my obsession too far?
by the way, i did an internet search of katie looking for pictures of her in short hair, and i think it looks good. however, all the pictures i found were with her in this nasty leopard print dress. while i like the hair, i can't get over the ugliness of that dress. ick.
i found out today that my tv is now $300 cheaper on amazon.com (which is where i bought it). my model is the sony bravia XBR2, and it's selling for around $1700 now (free shipping, no tax). the reason is because sony rolled out the next generation of the XBR's, and there's the XBR4 and XBR5 (which is like $3000). but i guess you can't keep up with technology, so whatever you buy will eventually be obsolete anyway. but yeah, i'm happy with my tv; football and other HD programming is beautiful! :)
