so the other day, i was outside a friend's house having a smoke, and i felt this sudden urge to take a dump. so i rushed back inside, and i had this massive, explosive, watery diarrhea dump. when i flushed, the brown water went through fine, but the toilet paper wouldn't go down. i flushed a few more times, but still, the same thing happened. so what i did was, i fished out the toilet paper with my BARE HANDS, and threw the wet, shitty, stringy toilet paper into the trash. eww, gross. i washed my hands for a long time after that.
i had pho for the first time in months today. i got a small bowl at pho nam today, but i put in the same amount of sriracha that i usually put in a large bowl. needless to say, it was pretty damn spicy. i liked it, but my tongue was on fire afterwards. i picked most of the lunch destinations last week, but since this is C's last week at the office, i'm going to defer all lunchtime decisions to him. it's only fair. he rented a nissan titan for the week (as his truck gets finished at the body shop), and man, that truck is HUGE. he got gas after lunch, and it cost him over $50 just to fill up 3/4 of his tank!
i am starting to regret not staying in hawaii for longer. basically, i'm flying in on thursday, hanging out/hiking on friday, going to the wedding on saturday, and flying back first thing in the morning on sunday. drat. i mean, there's not much i want to do there, but i'd like to hang out with the bowling gang more, you know? hm. oh well. at least when i get back, the tv season will have started, kicking off with _how i met your mother_ on monday night. i can't wait to see cobie smulders in HD. she's hot!
my xanga account username is "superfelch." don't know what felching is? go look it up! haha. yeah, i couldn't come up with a clever username, so i was just sitting there, my mind drawing a blank, but then, "superfelch" just popped up in my brain, so i just went with it. but no, i don't blog on xanga, so don't get your hopes up; i just have an account so can comment on my other friends' xanga's.
so grace's mom made turnip cake (lwo bwo gao) over the weekend. i've been wanting to try her stuff out since the beginning of the year. i think grace leaves for hawaii tomorrow, so i'm trying to contact her and see if i can try some tonight. turnip cake is my favorite dim sum dish, followed closely by leek dumplings. yummy shit, man, yummy shit.
we have this long MPEG chip-level test that takes around two weeks to run. it was about halfway done when our company decided to test out its UPS system over the weekend by powering down all of its servers. FUCK! so we had to restart the test today. grrr. what bad timing.
so what happens when somebody tells you that their marriage is dissolving and they're separated? what do you say? the last time that happened to me, i just gave a frown and said, "i'm sorry." i mean, naturally, i wanted to know what happened and everything, but i didn't want to seem like i was prying. i don't like seeing marriages fail, being a closet romantic and all. i know divorces do happen to people, but i just never expect it to happen to any of *my* friends.
i've realized that i really don't mind driving when there is good music. i've been thoroughly enjoying the "2007 mix" CD that i made last week. all the songs are good (of course!), and it makes time go by really quickly when i'm in the car. it sure beats listening to the radio when nothing good's on. it reminds me of back when we used to go clubbing, and i would drive home at 2am with alan, ting and peter sleeping in the car and i would be listening to my lounge music mixes. good music rocks!
ok. time to wrap this up and head out for a cig.
friday night, i had dinner with adam and rae at korea tofu house in cupertino village. i had never been there before, so i was open to try it out. i was a bit skeptical about a korean place in the middle of a chinese complex, though. i got the kimchee tofu soup, and it was actually decent. however, the small plates were a bit bland, especially the chap jae. adam showed me some pictures from his trip to burning man, and i was amazed at some of the art displays; some of them were huge!
saturday, i drove up to the city to meet up with kevin (my best friend from high school), cindy (my stanford basketball watching buddy), and eunice (cindy's sister) in the mission. the story goes, kevin, cindy and i meet up once a year in the city to have brunch, so this was our annual outing. we ate at this place called boogaloos, and the food wasn't bad, despite the fact that they served me half a plate of black beans (i HATE black beans). i got the chorizo quesadilla, and it pretty good. we caught up, and afterwards, we walked back to cindy and eunice's place a few blocks over on dolores.
afterwards, i drove to oakland to meet up with shoji (who was in town; he was performing at yoshi's over the weekend), barden, susan, and ray. ah, taiko reunion! this was the first time that i relied solely on GPS, as i had no clue how to get from the mission to oakland. it did mess up, though, and i took me in circles around the octavia/market intersection. but after i made a fix in the route, it got me over the bay bridge intact, and then from 80/780/580, etc. all the way to piedmont safely. we chatted for over an hour, and it was nice seeing shoji again.
afterwards, i drove home, and soon after, i had dinner with john, mikeC, and nelson at krung thai. of course, i ordered the joon pad poo (medium spicy, no onions), but i was disappointed that it was a bit sweet. afterwards, we headed over to john/greg/cheryl's place, and we watched and episode of _tuna wrangler_ and _human weapon_. i never watch discovery channel and history channel, so i found those shows pretty interesting. and after that, i went home and went to sleep. i drove over 100 miles that day!
sunday, it was all about football. i woke up at 10 and watched the niners game, and then, the raiders game. although, i did grab some taco bell for lunch, took a nap, and talked to stef for 45 minutes in between all that football action. and then, for the nightcap sunday night football game (pats vs. chargers), i went to adam's house and checked out his 50" plasma tv that he bought from eric. he had a bunch of guys over (mostly chargers fans), but alas, the chargers lost pretty badly.
i think i'm football'ed out, hehe. but, i did keep tabs on the cowboys/dolphins game on the sports ticker, and they won! yippee! the 'boys are now 2-0, and they look good. i just hope we stay healthy, and i think we have a good chance at doing well. *fingers crossed*
