knife-cut noodles

man, i am really looking forward to having dinner tonight. no, i'm not meeting up with anyone or anything. i'm having leftovers! i'm eating the "knife-cut noodles" (dau shau mein) i got from darda seafood last thursday with ben. they're really good, and i'm so excited about eating them. i hope they haven't gone bad or anything; i'll be really disappointed and sad if they're spoiled.

it seems like there's something going on every weekend for the past couple of months. i like it. this weekend, there's nelson's birthday celebration and mikeT's bachelor party. whee! i'm happy that there's no driving involved this time around; the past two weekends have involved 8-10 hours of driving, and my ass and lower back have been sore from all that sitting around.

so did you guys hear about that michigan football game? they got beaten by a division I-AA school (appalachian (sp?) state), and they fell from being ranked #5 to out of the top 25. crazy shit, man. it's probably one of the greatest upsets in college (or sports in general) history. people are calling for head coach lloyd carr's job. nuts.

so during camping, greg asked me if i was a boob man or an ass man. without hesitation, i told him that first and foremost, i am a face man. for some reason, this drew some applause from the women, hehe. but then, i told him that i am next a boob man. i definitely like a good chest, although, recently, i have grown to appreciate a nice ass. i especially like ass dimples, you know, those two indentations on either side of the spine above the butt. those are really sexy. but yeah, you can't beat a nice set of breasts with some nice nipples and areolas. perky! i also like those ripples between the breasts when a girl's wearing a tight t-shirt.

my calves are totally sore from the hike. i didn't expected this, because during that hike (1+ mile, straight up), it was my quads that were totally burning. i didn't even the stairs when i got to work this morning; i headed straight for the elevators, even though this was the long way up. during basketball today, i just took it easy, only playing 2.5 games (that 0.5 was for a shortened 3-on-3 game).

i think i'm a gossip. which annoys me, because i don't like gossipers. but today, i noticed that a friend of mine had changed her friendster profile, and i noticed that she's now single. (i don't remember if she had listed herself as single before.) but that led me to believe that she had broken up with her boyfriend. (i checked his profile, too, and it listed him as being single as well.) anyways, i left her a message on her cell phone, so i hope i find out the truth soon. anyways, the first instinct i had was to tell someone about it. geesh. i don't like the fact that i enjoy spreading rumors without substantiating them first. maybe i should work for the national enquirer or something.

the grossest thing about not taking a shower for three days was my fingernails. i got all sorts of shit underneath them. ick. i mean, i could have taken a shower easily, but i just got lazy. but man, our campsite was right next to the shower rooms! yeah, that's how much of a sloth i am. sigh. but man, that shower i took last night was so refreshing. i felt reborn again.

i am beat today. last night, i fell asleep so fast that i don't even recall a single story from sportscenter. then, after getting out of bed at 8am, i passed out on the futon before going to work. and after coming back from basketball, i took yet another nap in my cube for about half an hour. i don't know what it is. maybe i just didn't have restful sleeping during camping. hopefully i'll be ok after tonight and henceforth.

another weird thing about camping is that i kept on having bloody booger chunks in my nose. i mean, i didn't have bloody noses or anything, but i kept on picking out red and black pieces of gunk out of my nostrils. maybe it was the dry air? hm. i dunno.

ok, time to finish up my stuff here, and then it's off to eat my leftovers!

camping long weekend

friday night, a few of us grabbed a quick bite at in n out before going home to pack. i got up the next day at 8am and headed over to nelson's at 9 to load up. jen came later, and then, we went to paul's house to pack some more stuff into his car. then, it was off to tahoe!

we stopped at burger king for a quick lunch, and then arrived first at the campgrounds at emerald bay state park. we took a short hike up to the top to get a nice view of the lake, and then went down to the water. we waited for a bit for the rest of the guys to trickle in (all in all, we had six cars).

for dinner, we cooked fajitas. the theme for most of the trip was food. we ate very well, and that was pretty cool. after nightfall, we cooked smores and just chatted. it got chilly, so i threw on my paul frank sweatshirt. i had some whiskey (john's bottle of bushmills) and smoked half of the cigar that grace gave me for my birthday last year, and went to bed around 10:30 or so. for some odd reason, i kept on sneezing and had a runny nose, but by the morning, i was fine. maybe i caught a 12-hour cold or something. it was my first time sleeping in a tent.

the next morning, we had breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon), and we hung out for a bit before embarking on a hike. the hike wasn't long (just over a mile), but it was straight up. my calves are still sore today. at the end of the hike was a beautiful lake, and john and mikeC set up fishing lines. john caught a brown trout. the rest of just enjoyed the view and ate our sandwiches. i, of course, smoked. no, i did not throw my butts on the ground, and instead, i kept them in a plastic bag. i was very conscious about not littering, and during the whole trip, i properly disposed of all my cigarette butts in trash receptacles.

after getting back, a few of us hiked down to the water to check on the crawfish traps that we laid out. we took some of the dogs down, and we had fun with them, throwing them in the water and watching them swim to shore. for dinner, we had chili, fried chicken (yum!), cornbread, and vegetables. i passed out for a bit, and nearly avoided john pouring whiskey into my open mouth, hehe. i took my medication early, and went to bed around 10 and fell asleep very soundly.

in the middle of the night, i heard this woman screaming profanities. we came to the conclusion that she broke up with her boyfriend. too bad for them. that must have been a horrible ride home. the next morning, we had breakfast and left at around 11. to avoid traffic, we took the "scenic" route home on the 88 but still hit some traffic on the 205.

after getting back around 4:30 or so, i headed straight to the taiko bbq. all the guests had left by then (the bbq started at noon), but the hosts and barden were still there. i helped them pack up, and then we headed to hiroshi and joy's place and played guitar hero II. it was my first time, and i found it a bit frustrating, especially on medium level. my pinky finger just wasn't cooperating. i bombed out on "sweet child of mine." susan and ray brought back over a dozen carne asada soft tacos, and they were delish. after that, i went home and crashed.

so how was my 3rd time camping? it was fun, the company was great, but i really missed my bed. i didn't take a shower the entire time (although we were right next to some coin-op showers, and i felt dirty. i would definitely do it again, although once a year seems just about right. thanks to greg for inviting me!
