yesterday, after coming back from the dog beach, alan and ting fed their dog rylie dinner. a few minutes later, i heard this weird sound, and rylie had puked up her entire dinner (plus some sea kelp) on the carpet. there was this HUGE mound of regurgitated food sitting there. pretty nasty, actually. poor thing. i held rylie as alan and ting rushed to clean the mess up, and i could feel rylie shivering, and her stomach muscles spasming. i was afraid that she was going to puke on my jeans.
i used to puke a lot. it was sort of a nervous habit. a lot of people hate throwing up, but i actually found it enjoyable. it's sort of cathartic. one time, i yacked my indian food up in the front yard, and the neighbor's dog ate it and tracked it into its owner's house. obviously, the neighbors were not happy about that, and i got a tongue lashing from them. i felt very bad and embarrassed about that.
as much as i enjoyed my own pukage, watching others do it was not fun. a lot of that stemmed from the fact that i used to date a girl with bulimia. it was pretty stressful, because every time she went to the bathroom (especially after a meal) was one of those "ok, is she going to hurl?" moments. i didn't really know how to deal with that. i did catch her in the act a few times, and it was just a bad situation. i mean, obviously she didn't want to keep doing it, but it was out of her control, like a gag reflex or something like that. tough times...
man, i gotta finish my taxes. i promised myself that while my boss was away, i'd find some free time to do it at work one of these afternoons, but i've just been lazy about it. i doesn't help that i owe like $10K, and the thought of having to pay that much isn't very appetizing.
i just ordered a gift for a friend online, and the store is based in alberta, canada. the shipping rates are outrageous! 2-3 day shipping is $41 canadian. i don't know how much exactly that is in US dollars, but it's still pretty steep. i was kinda shocked, actually.
the weather sure has been weird today. it started out beautifully, but then, within a matter of a few hours, has turned cold and rainy. what gives? good thing i wore a hooded sweatshirt instead of the light jacket i was thinking about wearing instead.
ok. that's all i got for today. time to go home.
friday night, i met up with grace, nelson, mikeC, and john at the new mountain view REI. john bought a new $200 sleeping bag in preparation for his big week-long road trip with nelson and company to death valley and the grand canyon. afterwards, we went to fiesta del mar on castro for some mexican food goodness. both john and i got the deep-fried chimichanga. ah, deep-fried burrito.
saturday, i slept until 1:30, got some jack in the box, and watched both elite eight games. i was rooting for memphis against ohio state, but they lost, and i was rooting for ucla against kansas, and they won. after that, i met up with jimmy and mikeC at the cheap korean place on bowers and el camino. i call it cheap because their prices for lunch are pretty reasonable ($5.99), but for dinner, it wasn't so cheap ($14.99 for meat dishes which you grill yourself).
afterwards, we went around the corner to AMF moonlite lanes to mikeT's birthday bowl-a-rama birthday party. i didn't really know anybody, so i just hung out and watched people bowl. i didn't bowl because of my bad back, but i was surprised that their bar had jameson, so i got one and sipped my whiskey. paul and leeya made a surprise showing, so i was glad they stopped by.
sunday, i met up with grace, mikeC, ann and newton at dynasty for some lazy dim sum. i say lazy because we were there for two hours. afterwards, i went home and caught the end of the oregon/florida game. too bad oregon lost; i was rooting for them, as i root for all pac-10 teams. and then, i watched part of the UNC/georgetown game before heading off to alan and ting's place. we drove to santa cruz to the dog beach to give rylie some exercise.
after coming back, we watched some tv (more basketball, but NBA this time, nuggets vs. cavaliers) before heading to sneha (now called grand indian buffet) for some tasty indian food. i especially liked the green chili dish, which was very spicy.
and that was it to my weekend. lots of basketball, i know, but i'm trying to soak in all the college basketball i can before the season ends.
