hm. so for the past five days or so, i've been waking up to a sore throat. but as the day passes, the soreness goes away. i wonder what's going on. maybe it's dryness when i sleep? hm. *ponder*
for lunch, A and i went to sunny v cafe on lawrence and sandia. i hadn't had japanese curry in a while, so i ordered the chicken katsu curry. don't get it. the katsu pieces were way too salty, and i had to wash it down with lots of water and rice. it was disappointing. but poor A; his gout was acting up again, and he had to wear a boot on his right foot because his joint was in pain. gout sounds like a nasty thing to deal with.
so good news! espn reported today that brook lopez, one of the twin 7-foot lopez brothers, is staying at stanford. so it looks like our core players (including our starting five) are coming back for another season. hopefully they'll grow and mature, and we'll do better next year. i'm looking forward to '07-08 already. in the meantime, tonight, the stanford women play in the round of 32 at maples pavilion. let's hope they make a good run in the tournament. go cardinal!
so after over a year of trying to contact her (that includes phone calls, e-mails, and even dropping by her house), i finally got in touch with mallory this weekend. apparently, she says she's just been very busy. anyways, i'm relieved to know that she's still alive, because i had been fearing that worst, i.e. something bad happened to her. but like i said, i'm just happy to know that she's ok, and i hope to catch up with her someday soon. still, i just think it's weird that she didn't respond after all of my previous attempts to get in touch with her.
i've sometimes wondered how people would know if i died in my house. i mean, i don't get calls that often, and even if i did (and i didn't answer), i doubt my friends would actually come to my house and break down the door to check up on me. how long would it take them to do that? months? maybe i should make a pact with alan to call me once a week and tell him to call the cops or something if i don't answer after like 3 weeks or so. and what about all my money accounts and bills and stuff? hm. there's a lot of loose ends to tie up once someone dies. such a messy process! maybe i should have a sealed envelope with all my passwords and stuff, and people can open it upon my death.
ok, sorry to end this entry on such a morbid note, but that's all i got for today. bye!
so friday night, mikeC, nelson and i went to bay meadows for some live horse racing action. they had $1 admission and hot dogs and beer. i got two hot dogs, but i should have gotten three, since they were so cheap. i hadn't had a hot dog in years, and they were delicious. i thought the racing was a bit boring, though, but then again, i didn't bet, as that would have made it a little more interesting. mike bet $10 on horse #4 (he chose it based on its name), and although it had the lead in the beginning, it came in second to last.
saturday, paul, leeya, nelson and i had lunch at pho kim long. i chose the place, since i was craving their #24 (dry noodle with stir-fried veggies and beef). that dish is very good. afterwards, we got some tapioca and headed back to paul's place to watch some tv. i caught the tail end of the stanford women's basketball game, and they whooped up on idaho state by like 30+ points. afterwards, i went home and took a short nap.
for dinner, 8 of us went to krung thai (the old one, south of 280 on winchester), and even though i got my favorite jun pad poo, the dinner was very unsatisfying. the portions were really tiny, especially the basil chicken and pad see ew. very disappointing. afterwards, we headed back to greg's place, where the girls played sudoku and the guys played command and conquer. it was st. patrick's day, so it was only fitting that i have some irish whiskey (jameson). i felt a little woozy, so after watching a bit of the guys play their game, i went home and called it a night.
sunday, we went to los gatos cafe and ate these gigantic omelets. they were so big that none of us were hungy by the time dinner rolled around. after lunch, we hit costco for an errand run. man, costco is a zoo on weekends. paul bought his dog spike a gigantic bed. they carry all this random stuff now (i hadn't been inside a costco in over a year), including a $60,000+ steinway grand piano.
afterwards, i went home, watched some sports, and headed over to jump sky high to watch some friends bounce on trampolines for an hour. i didn't do it myself (i thought i'd get bored), and later on, paul and i went to my company to get some drinks for the people who did jump. afterwards, they went to sweet tomatoes (one of my most hated restaurants, alongside fresh choice, which is practically the equivalent), so i just went home and didn't eat dinner.
