hey there. today's been a breeze. i'm leaving early to get a 5pm massage. can't wait!
for lunch, three of us went to this tofu house on lawrence and el camino. there are lots of them nearby, but we picked this one, one that i had never gone to. they served this cast iron pot of rice, and i, being stupid, tried to pick up the lid. i proceeded to burn three of my fingers badly. luckily, they're not blistering (yet), but they're still a little tingly. i had to soak my fingers in a cup of ice water to get rid of the pain. sigh.
so i really enjoyed last night's _american idol_. the music was from the old songbooks of the jazz era. 50's maybe? but anyway, i was really impressed by paris bennett's performance. simon's right; she sounds like mickey mouse when she speaks, but she's got a great singing voice. i didn't vote, though, but i would have voted for taylor hicks. he's just awesome. i'm curious who's going to get voted off... i think it's time for kellie pickler to go; her perf last night was just BAD.
i decided i like rachel's. there's rachael leigh cook, first and foremost, one of the cutest girls in the world. then there's rachael harris (the girl that does the quaker snack ads, GREAT glasses by the way), rachel greene (jennifer aniston's character from _friends_, but only in the earlier seasons), and rachel gibson (who plays rachel nichols on _alias_), to name a few.
for the first time in 2006, i ordered some music from amazon.com. mike IM'ed me this morning telling me of this acoustic erasure album. he sent over the songlist, and i recognized most of those songs. it'll be interesting to hear erasure without the synthpop song, although they did some for _the two ring circus_ album. plus, i ordered the solo album by erasure's singer, andy bell. i read that it was dance-y, not sure if i'll like that, but we'll see.
yeah, i'm not into music that much anymore. music used to be a big part of my life, but now, i just listen to the radio. and 99% of the new music that's coming out is crap. and i miss the old KFRC (fm 99.7); they used to play oldies, but now they've changed to songs from the 70's and 80's. shit. where am i going to get my oldies fix? does anyone know of another station?
so have you guys seen the subway ad with their new "italian trio?" they claim that they serve their sandwiches with garlic bread, so i was intrigued. so last night, i stopped by my local subway and ordered a chicken parmesan on garlic bread. the guy told me that they don't serve actual garlic bread; it's just regular bread with a garlic/herb spread. so immediately i was disappointed. but in the end, the sandwich tasted ok. i pretty much like anything with marinara sauce on it.
so AMC (the cable channel, not the movie cineplex) has been showing _the breakfast club_ recently. that's one of my favorite movies. i had a huge crush on ally sheedy back in the day, especially when she played the red-haired leslie on _st. elmo's fire_, which i still claim to be my favorite movie. i remember after watching the love scene from SEF, that night, i made out with my pillow pretending it was her. ha! don't laugh... i was only 13 or so at the time.
one of my crushes in junior high (ah, puppy love) just sent an e-mail today announcing the birth of her son. her name was patricia, and i think she was filipino or something. man, i had it bad for her. but then again, weren't all crushes like that? i used to do the call-and-hang-up thing to her home phone numer (which must have really pissed her family off), and i even taped her answering machine message and played it back. hehe. that's so embarrassing!
ok, anyways, that's it for today. bye!
